Search on the Appalachian Trail

At aprox. 09:45 Stations 39 and 37 were dispatched to search for a lost hiker along the Appalachian Trail. Crews consisting of firefighters and PA State Police entered the woods at various points to conduct a coordinated search both on foot and utilizing 39UTV1. The lost hiker was found aprox an hour after the search began.

With weather getting colder and the elements changing quicker throughout the day it's important to remember if you're going to head out onto the Appalachian Trail be sure to wear appropriate clothing, plan you route and use a compass or GPS system, and if you do get lost and are in need of emergency services, stay where you are and be sure to give the 911 operator as much information as possible.
